Origin launches Origin Intelligence, bond data extraction AI with over 96% accuracy

  • Origin Intelligence combines the latest LLM technology with Origin’s proprietary data layer to extract up to 79 structured data points from bond termsheets and final terms

  • Extracted fields are based on Airbrush data taxonomy and include all relevant data points necessary for post-trade processing steps including: ISIN code allocation, and security set-up within IPAs, CSDs, exchanges and market data venues such as Bloomberg

  • With Origin Intelligence, users can “drag-and-drop” Word or PDF files into the Origin Documentation platform, allowing them to benefit from downstream post-trade processing even if documents were created offline

London, 12 November 2024 Origin, the London-based fintech digitizing debt capital markets, has launched Origin Intelligence, a bond data extraction AI that can extract up to 79 data points from bond documentation with over 95% accuracy.

Origin Intelligence supports a variety of documents including bond termsheets and final terms. Users can now drag-and-drop Word or PDF documents into the Origin Platform, and the system will extract all the relevant data points necessary for post-trade processing steps such as ISIN code allocation, security set up within Bloomberg, and post trade processing at IPAs, CSDs, and exchanges.

(Re-)built with AI

Origin previously launched a data extraction tool in 2022 called Origin Extract that was built on an earlier generation of machine learning technology. The earlier Origin Extract could only support bond termsheets, and extracted a smaller set of data points.

Origin Intelligence was rebuilt from the ground up utilizing the latest large language model (LLM) technology, combined with Origin’s proprietary data layer built through the team's deep expertise in developing capital markets data models. The rebuilt Origin Intelligence now extracts more data points and supports a wider range of documents, including both termsheets and final terms.

Performance has improved substantially as well, with Origin Intelligence now achieving an impressive 96% accuracy and 95% precision when tested against a suite of 69 test documents.

Structured data + integrations

Origin Intelligence gives users even more flexible ways to benefit from the automations and integrations contained within the Origin Platform. With Origin’s industry leading suite of integrations, users can now automate every step of the “transaction management” process, even if documents are drafted manually offline. For example, users can drag and drop a termsheet into the platform to automatically generate an ISIN code or create the security within the Bloomberg terminal. Or users can drag and drop a final terms document into the platform to facilitate straight-through-processing into connected agents and listing venues.

John Judeh, Lead Product Manager at Origin, said: “Using the latest LLM technology, we have been able to create a bond data extractor that is significantly more accurate and flexible. With the ever-growing level of natural language understanding these models have, there is a lot we can do to make the process of issuing a bond more accessible and efficient and we’re excited to continue on this journey.”

Raja Palaniappan, CEO at Origin, said: “At Origin, we are constantly evaluating new technologies to push the boundaries of the value we can provide to our users. Origin Intelligence is so exciting not just because it uses some amazing new technology, but because it provides a step-change in our clients’ experience of the Origin platform. It’s the combination of amazing technology and a relentless focus on user experience that is our critical edge, and we’re so excited to release this latest product into the hands of our users.”
